FROM OUR MANAGING DIRECTOR

It is hard to believe that March is already here.

The Ojai Valley is shimmering in its plush green covering.
The rain has finally subsided and has left a glow throughout our picturesque community. A true haven of peace and tranquility!

As we are all aware , we are living in stressful times which can make us ambivalent about the decision of whether to travel for business or pleasure, or just stay home. There is no question that our financial environment has changed. However, the need to meet and engage, from either a business or personal standpoint, has not changed. As social animals, we need this interaction in order to move forward in our lives and thrive.

It is key to remember, especially now, that a change of scenery promotes a different perspective and point of view and in many instances, an attitude adjustment. Getting out of the office may encourage new thinking, ideas and often a breakthrough approach to problem solving. From a personal standpoint, the same philosophy may apply.

Please rethink your needs and go with YOUR instincts. It is hard not to continually be swayed by collective negativity, especially when it comes from every media source around.

We must continue to display independent thinking in times like these and not fall prey to another companies misguided ways. We are proud to provide the service levels we do with the vast amenities that the Inn is known for.

It is our feeling that you deserve to enjoy what we have to offer, be it for business or personal growth. Please do not hesitate to call anyone on our team for assistance in booking your next trip to Ojai.

May you have a wonderful upcoming Spring Holiday!

See you at the Inn...

Janis Clapoff
Managing Director

FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

There is nothing like spring in Ojai. The scent of orange blossoms and wisteria fill the air as you walk beneath the brilliant blue skies. It is one of my favorite seasons to enjoy a vast number of activities in our valley.

This spring our Arts and Leisure Program is proud to offer two very exciting and unique events as we welcome runway model and environmental scientist, Summer Rayne Oakes for a literary luncheon promoting her new book “Style, Naturally.” Ms. Oakes shares her passion for raising awareness of sustainability and experiences through eco-friendly, high fashion modeling and public speaking. She will be joining us March 13th.

We are pleased to launch the first of many experiences enveloped in a three-night, four-day program enjoyed in our Artist Cottage and Apothecary. Our Artist in Residence, Renate Collins has created a one of a kind experience with a class entitled, “Looking Back, Dreaming Forward; A Life Story Journey”. This program leads you through the journey of personal discovery. It reveals the thread that weaves through the inner world of memories and lessons encountered that often identify the purpose and direction of one’s life.

The project takes the form of a book, a box of treasures or even a sculpture. The journey begins with the creation of a “Personal Mandala” a signature experience within the Cottage and resolves with your own creation of a personal scent through the guide of “custom blending”. This event will take place April 19th through the 22nd, limited space is available so don’t miss out!

Whatever your preference during your visits to Ojai, don’t miss out on enjoying spring in our tranquil Valley.

I look forward to welcoming you,

Anna Olson

CHEF'S NOTES
From our Executive Chef Jamie West
and the kitchen of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa

Our Organic Chef’s Garden has been planted for the spring with arugula, French breakfast radishes, Swiss chard, mustard greens, assorted varieties of baby lettuce along with basil, tarragon and chervil. We anticipate having a fine first harvest this spring.

Spring is the season to welcome Ojai Pixie Tangerines! We will be running weekly specials in the Oak Grill featuring these little gems that are so unique to us and utilizing them in many menus.

It is also a great time of the year to sit outside under the terrace in the Oak Grill and enjoy our Sunset Dinner Special that is available from 5pm to 6:30pm Sunday through Thursdays.

Come to Jimmy’s for “the best burger in town” or enjoy our signature
wood-fired pizza, while watching the game on the 63” wide flat screen TV.

“Remember, there is always time for great food!”

GREEN PROMISE

Guests who stay at the Inn can participate in our linen re-use program, saving water, energy and waste. All rooms at the Inn are cleaned using biodegradable cleaning supplies, and our retail shops are stocked with a wide variety of natural and organic products from companies like Arcona, Anakiri and Ojai Olive Oil.

The Ojai Valley Inn and Spa has a substantial footprint within the Ojai Valley. The resort operates on a total of 220 acres. It is essential for us to find the most efficient ways to reduce, recycle, and re-use materials to ensure our environmental commitment.

Green Golf

The Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s championship golf course was originally sculpted from the natural terrain of the Ojai Valley. No heavy equipment was utilized in its design. Furthermore, we feature a state-of-the-art watering system for the course and landscaping. The system measures humidity, sunlight, grass density, moisture and temperature prior to automatically watering. This process utilizes a minimal amount of waste to provide optimal results.

Edible Ecosystem

The bounty of a rich California harvest is served each day in our restaurants. Tender heirloom tomatoes, citrus, kiwi and other freshly picked fruits and vegetables are grown in abundance. Rosemary, basil, tarragon, thyme, lavender, lemon grass and edible flowers are harvested from the Inn's herb gardens. Local farmers and ranchers supply fresh, wholesome menu ingredients for which Ojai has become famous.
