L.A. Zoo to Uganda

L.A. Zoo Roots & Shoots coordinator Sheri Mandel shares her experience being a part of Partnerships in Understanding in RESPECT e-zine no. 96:
"Writing to pen pals in Uganda has been an educational, eye-opening experience for all of us. Sometimes the letters we receive contain very sad information. For example, one of the pen pals in Uganda died from illness; another disappeared and nobody knew what happened to her. Other letters convey incredible courage and strength of spirit. In friendship and support, the Los Angeles Zoo group made 100 origami peace cranes and sent them to Uganda. The package also included origami paper and detailed instructions for their pen pals to make their own."

Want to learn how to make your own origami crane? Better yet, how about sending them to a friend through Partnerships in Understanding!
