New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania is proud to be the first independent hotel to launch a new PDA (personal digital assistant) version of its HotelPenn.com web site targeted exclusively to wireless device users, located at Mobile.HotelPenn.com.

The Mobile.HotelPenn.com PDA web site offers a condensed version of the existing Internet site and provides all of the critical information a busy executive, meeting planner or leisure traveler needs to book a stay – all at the touch of a stylus pen. The site will allow travelers to research and book reservations, select an appropriate package, and check rates and hotel availability all while keeping track of appointments and schedules. Furthermore, travelers can also use their PDA to research and view the Hotel’s business/conference facilities and reserve meeting space accordingly.

Running with the Top Dogs: Hotel Pennsylvania hosts Westminster hopefuls

With the 130th Westminster Dog Show wrapping up on February 14th in New York, many wonder where the dogs stay at during the competition? Well wonder no further as we explain how we convert the Hotel into a ’dog house’ for Westminster hopefuls.

For years, the Hotel has been considered the ‘Hotel of choice’ for canine participants in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show given the property’s proximity to the Show, added canine amenities and year-round pet-friendly status. For the 1,100 dogs that checked into the Hotel, it was nothing but the best for these four-legged guests!

In honor of the Dog Show, the Hotel sets up a number of services to cater to the V.I.P.'s (Very Important Pooches) and included:

  • Offering a Welcome Package consisting of Dogs' Delight dog treats, a copy of Fido-Friendly magazine,
    a commemorative postcard, a heart shaped cookie for Valentine's Day, and a contact list of local dog services in and around the Hotel.
  • Hosting the 1st Annual “Red Carpet” Pre-Westminster Fashion Show with professionals and dog enthusiasts from the Westminster Kennel Club modeling designer fashions.
  • Setting up a spacious 4,000 square-foot Dog Spa within the great hall of the Hotel, which acts as a one-stop shop for all a dog's needs: bathing/beauty parlor/salon, exercising area, walking/relieving area, and a Dog-tor's Corner, which includes a canine and handler masseuse and an animal psychic/communicator!
  • Assigning a doggie concierge to attend to all canine requirements (such as extra pillows, ‘Paw’rier water, and special food orders) and handle media interviews.
  • Offering a Paw Mall in the Lobby with products and gifts for those dogs that want to shop.
  • Partnering with the Westminster Kennel Club to host a live post-show broadcast satellite feed from the Hotel’s Main Lobby with the Best In Show winner and handler. 

As a result of our added amenities and activities, the Hotel received national media coverage was garnered, including a full-page feature in the New York Times as well as a number of spots on broadcast television including Telemundo, Inside Edition, and the Animal Shopping Club Network.

Here’s something interesting: it turns out the Hotel hosted 4 of the 7 group winners, including Best in Show Rufus, the bull-faced terrier! Could it have been the added Hotel amenities that gave Rufus the edge he needed to win Best in Show? Hmm…
