Canucks love Grenada ‘the Spice of the Caribbean’
as arrivals spike by 11.63% for 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 5, 2009. (St. George’s, Grenada, WI)—Canadians love to travel to Grenada all year long as the latest figures show a remarkable boost for 2008 versus 2007. During calendar 2008 the Canadian market grew by 11.63% with a total of 6,211 visitors compared to 5,564 in 2007. The top three provinces for travel to Grenada during 2008 were Ontario, Quebec and then followed by Alberta and British Columbia. This makes Canada the fourth largest market for Grenada, next to the UK, USA and CARICOM.

According to William Joseph, Director of Tourism worldwide for the Grenada Board of Tourism, “These impressive numbers for 2008 from the Canadian market underscore how important Canada is to Grenada’s tourism industry. Canadians obviously value Grenada’s charm and beauty and our hope is to see this trend continue for many years. Over the past four years there has been a steady growth of new tourism attractions plus increased air lift access that allows Grenada to welcome more Canadian visitors.”

Located at the southern end of the Windward islands, about 12 degrees north of the equator, the island nation of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique offers Canadian travelers a wide range of vacation options. These include: stunning gold and black sand beaches, water sports, sailing and yachting, 28 dive sites unmatched for coral and abundant schools of fish, parks, protected rainforests and Eco tourism, history and archeology dating back to the 1600’s, cuisine flavoured with nutmeg, cinnamon and other local spices, markets, sports and year round festivals. All this makes Grenada a one-stop vacation to satisfy any travelers’ needs no matter how active or relaxing a vacation sought after.
