What’s New From Port Louis
Set to be one of the largest tourism projects ever to be undertaken by the island of Grenada, Port Louis will be receiving a $1.5 billion makeover. The charming waterfront property project managed by the de Savary Group, will be converted into a unique comprehensive marine village community. Upgrades to the Port will include a world-class marina with yachting facilities able to accommodate yachts up to 90 metres, 36 estate lots for individual houses, 280 residential units, and a 120 room 5-star hotel.
The marine community of Port Louis will provide guests and residents with a variety of land activities including a first-rate premier spa and well-being lifestyle centre. The revitalization and augmentation of Pandy Beach will provide Port Louis with a beach complimentary to that of the Grand Anse Beach in terms of water activities and sports. The waterfront will also be host to a vibrant local market, allowing residents and visitors alike to indulge in uniquely Grenadian flavors, sights and sounds.
Excitement about the Port Louis project is rapidly spreading across the Island. In November 2006, Port Louis donated an eight-passenger custom-made golf cart to the Point Salines International Airport (PSIA). The cart will be used around the airport to transfer first-class travelers, pick-up passengers arriving on private jets, and also act as a shuttle service for elderly or disabled passengers.
“This gift by Port Louis Grenada will allow us to lift the standard of our service,” said Terrence Forrester, Chairman of the Grenada Airport Authority. “Not only will they provide a comfortable ride for first class and private jet passengers but they will be a major help for elderly and physically challenged passengers.”
Also featured at the PSIA is Port Louis’ newest marketing initiative, the Nutmeg One. The Nutmeg One is a 13B seater executive aircraft adorned with the Grenada flag on the tail of the aircraft as well as Grenada’s national colours (red, green and gold) and the Port Louis logo.
Port Louis will also host the 2007 La Source Grenada Sailing Festival as the events newest sponsor. Danny Donelan, Marina Development & Communications Manager plans to create a unique entertainment event to add a new dimension to the sailing festival. Port Louis’ sponsorship will also include the financing of the keel boat race, which will be called the ‘Port Louis Grenada South Coast Ocean Triangle Series.’
The Port Louis project is poised to thrust Grenada forward as the most sought after exclusive destination in the Eastern Caribbean. For more information on Port Louis, visit www.portlouisgrenada.com

Island Wide Developments
2007 is a year of initiative for the Island of Grenada. All across the tri-island nation, development projects are taking place to accommodate the ever-increasing number of tourists visiting the Island. These include:
Bacolet Bay Resort
January 2007 will mark the official launch of the Bacolet Bay Resort Project. This anticipated 5-star luxury resort with 43 acres of tropical gardens, 200 metres of white sandy beach and a secluded bay will offer guests an enchanting, secluded vacation experience. In keeping with its surrounding environment, the Bacolet Bay Resort has a low impact design with residential areas nestled amongst the tropical forests, ensuring the preservation of as much of the surrounding ecosystem as possible.
The hotel will provide state-of-the-art leisure facilities including: a luxury holistic spa, extensive water sports, tennis courts, nature trails, diving, snorkeling and the highest quality restaurants. Bacolet Bay Resort & Spa will offer the ultimate in Caribbean luxury and leisure. For more information, e-mail info@propertyfrontiers.com
Mt. Cinnamon
The Mt. Cinnamon property, located near Grand Anse Beach, will be converted to a first class hotel, residential, retail and recreational development to rival those of Morne Rouge and Grand Anse. It is intended that all 21 apartments be completely renovated and re-furnished with pool and clubhouse amenities. A 200 room, 3 to 4-star hotel will also be constructed with the attractive architecture, tropical gardens and recreational facilities typical of Grenada. It is hoped that the renovations and development of the Mt. Cinnamon properties will assist with lodging for the upcoming Cricket World Cup.
Prickly Bay Waterside
On the southern shores of Grenada just minutes away from PSIA is the Prickly Bay Waterside. This waterside property is going to be renovated to a luxury residence resort and marine park. Modern marine architecture, sleek lines and natural spaces will be combined with sea vistas to create these luxurious accommodations. Facilities will include access to the marina and luxury resort services, a fully equipped gym, spa, free-form swimming pool, dive services, business centre and meeting room, as well as car and bicycle hire.
Mount Edgecombe Plantation
As the ‘Spice Island’ of the Caribbean, Grenada takes a great deal of pride in its historical plantations. As such efforts are being made to restore the Mount Edgecombe Plantation, a beautiful private working plantation in St. Mark. Unlike most traditional plantations that specialize in one particular crop, the Mount Edgecombe Plantation has set out to produce every fruit, vegetable and spice that can grow in Grenada. This will also be the sight of Grenada’s first Eco natural holistic spa. Spa treatments will be set in a tropical rainforest environment so guests can enjoy a more natural and spiritually revitalizing experience.
2007 will be full of many new island wide initiatives that will help meet the growing demand for accommodation. Though many of these projects are still underway, visitors to Grenada can enjoy some of the new attractions including
the ‘Leapers Hill’ historical site that will open around February 7 2007 and the newly rebuilt National Stadium.
Leapers Hill Historical Site
This newly renovated heritage project will be open to the public around February 7, 2007. Visitors to the site can take a journey through the day-to-day life of Grenada’s indigenous people, including their tragic demise at Leaper’s Hill.
National Stadium
In preparation for the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, Grenada has completely rebuilt their national stadium. As one of the nine countries hosting the matches Grenada has gone through tireless efforts to ensure their state-of-the-art multi-purpose stadium will be ready in time for the big event. Thanks to the financial efforts of the government and people from the Republic of China, the stadium will soon be complete and able to comfortably accommodate 15,500 charged cricket fans.
Yachters preparing to visit Grenada can now download and fill out their clearance forms to Grenada at www.grenadagrenadines.com/grenada_clerance_online_form.pdf. This way they can complete their forms on the computer on a timely basis, rather than use the traditional time-consuming approach.
2007 promises to be a year of continuous growth for the Island paradise of Grenada. New development projects ensure more luxury accommodations and leisure activities. Environmental initiatives promise the celebrated Eco systems of the Island will stay intact.
