Celebrate 30 years of adventure travel with master pioneer
Buddy Bombard on a 52-day Anniversary Ultimate Adventure
Thirty years ago, Buddy Bombard had a vision of offering a unique luxury travel experience to the world. Today that dream is still being realized every time one of Buddy’s balloons takes flight, showing its guests some of the most significant historical and cultural sites in Europe.
To mark their 30th Anniversary, Buddy Bombard’s Europe is offering an ‘Ultimate Adventure’ 52-day trip combining all of Buddy’s 19 summer tours into one magnificent travel experience.
The adventure begins in Italy, where guests join the Palio Festival in Siena and dine with local nobility. In Switzerland, travelers balloon through the picturesque Swiss countryside, enjoy a walking tour through medieval castles and a stunning helicopter ride over cascading ice falls in the Alps. On to Germany to enjoy a beautiful drive through Bavaria and the foothills of the German Alps to the extravagant castles built by ‘Mad King Ludwig’ in the 1800’s.
The next country on the itinerary is Austria, to explore Baroque-era Old Salzburg and the beautiful villages of St. Gilgen, St. Wolfgang and the historical village of Hallstat, arriving in a tiny fleet of boats. Fine dining in Austria will be hosted by Princess Manni Wittgenstein in her charming Alpine home.
In the Czech Republic, magnificent well-preserved architecture and the bohemian countryside of the famous red rooftops will be viewed. Prague’s architecture is made even more significant by the fact that it was the only major city in Europe (excluding major cities in neutral countries i.e. Switzerland and Ireland) to escape unscathed from the relentless bombings most major cities experienced during WWII.
While in Istanbul, experience a guided tour of many historical landmarks – the Blue Mosque, the underground cisterns, The Grand Bazaar and Topkapi Palace featuring an opulent collection of gems and treasures from the Ottoman Era. On the fourth day in Turkey, fly to Cappadocia to explore 7th century rock cave dwellings and 3rd century frescoed churches carved from the rock.
Next, off to France to view extraordinary medieval castles and the world famous vineyards of Burgundy. Daily sightseeing in Burgundy includes visits to notable wine cellars of the area and the vineyards of Romanee Conti. Lunches are at the private home and wine estate of The Countess de Loisy. Dinners each evening are served in the vaulted candle-lit chambers of a
14th-century castle and at the flower-filled Château de LaBorde (Buddy Bombard’s home in France).
The final leg of the 52-day adventure takes place in the peaceful Loire Valley, offering a bird’s-eye-view of the more than 1,000 magnificent châteaux, large country estates and feudal castles scattered throughout the area’s extensive vineyards, meadows and woodlands. On land, enjoy tours of some of the most breathtaking castles in the region.
The 30th Anniversary Ultimate Adventure promises an unforgettable experience that opens eyes to a new world of adventure travel opportunities. Book before May 1st, 2006 and save $10,000 per person.

Spotlight on Tuscany, The Palio Festival & The Splendor of Siena
Spending the first day in Florence, guests will then make their way to Siena for the Palio Festival. The Palio Festival is a celebration that dates back to medieval times. The highlight of the festival is a horse race held twice each year on July 2 and August 16, in which horse and rider represent one of the seventeen contrade, or city wards. A magnificent pageant precedes the race, which attracts visitors and spectators from around the world. The Palio Festival gives our guests a chance to experience a small piece of Italian culture and interact with the people of Siena to learn about their way of life.
After Palio day, guests will enjoy daily morning balloon adventures overlooking the famous Tuscan countryside and ancient cobbled villages. You will also enjoy aerial views of the medieval architecture of San Gimignano, an architectural jewel which remains almost exactly as it was 500 years ago. Daily lunches with local nobility in their private ancestral castles with guided exploration of their estates. Come enjoy and explore the charm of Tuscany as only Buddy Bombard can present it.
